The City of Rochelle has partnered with Spay Illinois to offer a transport day for the spaying and neutering of both feral cats and owned cats. The event will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the City Hall North Parking Lot on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Sixth Street. Drop-offs will begin at 6:30 a.m. and pick-ups are at 6 p.m.

ROCHELLE — The City of Rochelle has partnered with Spay Illinois to offer a transport day for the spaying and neutering of both feral cats and owned cats. The event will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the City Hall North Parking Lot on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Sixth Street. Drop-offs will begin at 6:30 a.m. and pick-ups are at 6 p.m.

Up to 20 owned cats may come to the transport day. Cats must be brought in hard-side travel carriers. Services available include spay/neuter ($42), microchip ($10) and rabies ($10). Cats must be delivered in hard-side carrier at 6:30 a.m. and collected at 6 p.m. Cats must be a minimum of 3 pounds and at least 3 months old.

Volunteers are needed to assist with the trap and transport of feral/stray cats. Traps will be provided and volunteers will meet with trapped cats at 6:30 a.m. on transport day. Cats will be collected at 6 p.m. the evening of transport day, held overnight and released where found the following day. The City of Rochelle will cover the cost and donations are welcomed.
