ROCHELLE — The Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District is blessed to receive a very generous donation of $15,000 to the REC Aquatic Center in loving memory of Jeffry, Sheri and Grace Cole, who died in a horrific car crash in 2006.
Alli Cole, the sole survivor of that car crash and daughter of Jeffry and Sheri, began swimming as part of her rehabilitation. The water is Alli’s love and her family is thrilled to have this incredible facility in Rochelle for the community to enjoy.
Alli was a four-time gold medalist in the Paralympic Games in 2018. She qualified for the IHSA State meet in each of her first three seasons of high school swimming. Alli is also a three-time member of the Best of Rock River Valley All-Star Preps Girls Swim & Dive Team.
While she didn’t have a state meet to highlight her senior season due to COVID-19, she did medal in the IHSA Sectional Series for the fourth time in her career. Alli’s accomplishments are showcased in the REC Aquatic Center for all to see.
The REC Aquatic Center is home to two salt water pools that will offer opportunities for year-round swim team, water aerobics, water walking, deep water running, learn to swim, therapy and so much more. REC passes are available at www.rochelleparkdistrict.org.
