ROCHELLE — Regent Lydia Roberts of the Rochelle Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution presented the chapter’s first Community Service Award to Wendell “Pal” Colwill in recognition for his leadership and service to the community relating to establishing the Rochelle Veterans War Memorial at Lawnridge Cemetery.
Fundraising for the first and only sculptured bronze memorial statue in Rochelle is underway. The Rochelle Veterans War Memorial Association is a 501(c)3, and donation pledges are requested. The pledge form is available at the Rochelle VFW Post 3878 and on line at https://www.cityofrochelle.net/news/city-news/rochelle-veterans-memorial-statue-proposed.html.
