ROCHELLE – Rochelle residents who are in need of an assisted living facility will soon have a new choice for their loved ones.
Construction is underway on the new nursing home that will be located on Flagg Road near Lincoln School and Rochelle Township High School. The assisted living home is being constructed directly next to the existing independent living home. The two buildings will work together as one large senior care facility.
“We are in the process of completing a long-term care facility that will connect to the independent-living program right next door,” explained Don Fike, construction developer. “When we are finished we will be serving 92 people in the nursing home and another 50 people in the independent living home.”
Construction on the facility has been going as smooth as possible considering the rough weather and rain received during the past months. If everything else goes according to plan the facility is expected to open sometime early next year. Once open to the public, the home will be split up into six different sections, each specific to a certain type of care.
