OREGON – Laura J. Cook, Ogle County Clerk and Recorder, announced at the June Republican Central Committee meeting that she will seek her second term as Ogle County Clerk and Recorder.
Cook was appointed to fill the un-expired term of previous Ogle County Clerk and Recorder, Rebecca Huntley, when Cook won the 2016 primary election. Cook was then elected county clerk and recorder in November 2016. Cook will seek the Republican nomination in the March 20, 2018 Primary election.
Cook had served as Ogle County Chief Deputy County Clerk for 17 years before her appointment and election.
During her first term in office, Cook focused on her campaign pledge to continue the technological advancements in the Clerk and Recorders office, thereby increasing the offices’ efficiency. In the Recorders office, a paperless Revenue Stamp system (MyDec) has been introduced and additional financial and computer software have been implemented and updated.
In the clerk’s office, computer tablets have been purchased for the county board members to allow issuance of paperless county board packets. These packets are now available to the board members via a portal on the Ogle County website.
