Junior Annaliese Koziol and freshman Tyler Johnson earned medalist honors for the second consecutive meet on Tuesday evening, when the Rochelle Township High School varsity cross country team traveled for the Sycamore Invitational at Kishwaukee College.

MALTA — Junior Annaliese Koziol and freshman Tyler Johnson earned medalist honors for the second consecutive meet on Tuesday evening, when the Rochelle Township High School varsity cross country team traveled for the Sycamore Invitational at Kishwaukee College.
Johnson finished 19th out of 122 runners with a time of 17:06 for the Hubs, who took 11th out of 12 teams with 262 points in the 3-mile race. Junior Declan McGee finished 47th with a time of 18:09, while junior Elijah Mayen took 77th with a time of 19:50. Juniors Levi Waddle and Johnny Morales finished 88th and 90th with times of 20:50 and 20:56 to round out the top five runners.
"I thought they had some good races," head coach Dale Bergeson said. "The weather was good, so it was a good opportunity to see where they were at with our training program. They performed well."
Koziol clocked in with a time of 21:34 to finish 14th out of 82 varsity runners and lead the Lady Hubs to 11th place out of 12 teams with 212 points. Juniors Rose Luxton and Mary Chadwick took 45th and 56th with times of 24:25 and 25:12, while sophomore Vivian Worthington also recorded a time of 25:12 to land one place behind Chadwick in 57th.
"There were a lot of PRs from varsity through JV," Bergeson said. "Annaliese medaled for her second race and continues to improve every week."
Senior Bridgett Ramirez rounded out the top five runners for the Lady Hubs, finishing 79th with a time of 29:49. Rochelle’s next race will be the Oregon Invitational at Oregon Park West on Saturday, Sept. 7.
