STERLING — The Rochelle Township High School varsity cross country team traveled west for the annual Rock River Run at Hoover Park in Sterling on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Hubs finished 17th out of 18 schools, while the Lady Hubs took 16th out of 19 schools in the 5,000-meter race. Rochelle will return to action at the Genoa-Kington Matt Walter Invitational on Tuesday evening.
Freshman Tyler Johnson led the Hubs in the varsity race, finishing 23rd out of 197 runners with a time of 17:05.10. Junior Declan McGee took 68th with a time of 18:02.40, while juniors Levi Waddle, Elijah Mayen and Johnny Morales clocked in at 20:51.80, 21:04.60 and 21:08.40.
Junior Annaliese Koziol led the Lady Hubs on Saturday, finishing 22nd out of 164 runners with a time of 21:02.20. Sophomore Vivian Worthington placed 93rd with a time of 24:53.80, while juniors Rose Luxton and Mary Chadwick took 94th and 103rd in 24:58.00 and 25:19.40.
