MAPLE PARK — The Rochelle Township High School varsity cross country team went to Kaneland for the Larry Eddington Invitational on Saturday morning. Both the Hubs and the Lady Hubs finished 19th out of 20 teams in the meet. Rochelle will return to action on Wednesday, when the Hubs and Lady Hubs compete in the Byron Invitational at the Byron Forest Preserve.
Freshman Tyler Johnson ran the fastest time for the Hubs on Saturday, placing 32nd out of 162 runners in 16:06.10. Junior Declan McGee reached the 16-minute barrier for the first time this season, finishing 66th with a time of 16:57.20. Juniors Elijah Mayen, Johnny Morales and Levi Waddle clocked in with respective times of 18:28.10, 19:10.30 and 20:07.30 for the Hubs.
Junior Annaliese Koziol led the Lady Hubs on Saturday, taking 31st out of 160 runners with a time of 19:27.20 in the 2.92-mile race. Sophomore Vivian Worthington finished with a time of 23:12.80, while juniors Rose Luxton and Mary Chadwick followed with respective times of 23:49.40 and 24:10.20. Senior Brisa Zepeda ran a 25:16.40 to round out the top five scorers.
