Curtis H. Furman, 84, passed away on Aug. 11 at Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon. He was born on March 4, 1937 in Dixon to Wendell H. and Hiskea “Carrie” (Harms) Furman. He married Lujune “Becky” Beck on Sept. 27, 1958.

ROCHELLE – Curtis H. Furman, 84, passed away on Aug. 11 at Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon. He was born on March 4, 1937 in Dixon to Wendell H. and Hiskea “Carrie” (Harms) Furman. He married Lujune “Becky” Beck on Sept. 27, 1958.

While spending his entire life in Rochelle, he grew up helping several farmers and other people doing odd jobs. After 37 years, he retired from working at Del Monte Foods.

Although he retired, he still owned Furman’s Tree Service, which he continued to run well into his 70s. Curt enjoyed the outdoors, raising registered quarter and paint horses and going on trail rides with his family and friends.

His favorite pastimes were following his grandsons in whatever they were involved in, tinkering in the shop and watching old cowboy movies. He loved spending time with family and special lifelong friends, many of those friends became his chosen family.

In addition to his wife, Becky, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Cynthia and Christine; brother, Keith Furman; sisters, Rita Meling and Joyce Gittleson and brothers-in-law, Mahlon Meling, Wayne Friestad, Herb Clark, and Norm Gittleson.

Curt is survived by his daughter, Sherrilyn (Kurt) Simmons; three grandsons, Trent and Ryan Simmons and Curtis Caulder; one great-grandson, Jaydon Caulder; son-in-law, Scott Caulder; brothers, Loren (Ruth) Furman, Wayne (Connie) Furman and Wendell Furman; sisters, Carol Friestad, Doris (Wayne) Hardy and Kay Clark and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Aug. 28 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle.

Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home at noon. It is requested that masks be worn, and social distancing guidelines should be followed.

Interment will follow in Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. Contributions in Curt’s memory may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established. Please visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
