On Feb. 14 at approximately 2:45 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-vehicle rollover accident at the intersection of Illinois Route 52 and Freeport Road just outside of Polo. It was determined that a Dodge Ram pick-up being driven by Jonathan Troglio, 22, of Peoria, was northbound on Freeport Road and a tractor-trailer semi being driven by Ronald Steger, 57, of Epworth, Iowa, was westbound on Illinois Route 52. Troglio was stopped at the stop sign but stated he did not observe the semi approaching and pulled into the intersection. Steger was unable to stop and the pick-up was struck. Both occupants of the pick-up were uninjured and refused medical transport at the scene. Steger’s semi rolled onto its side and he was transported to CGH Hospital in Sterling for minor injuries sustained. Troglio was cited for failure to yield right of way at an intersection.
