Doris M. Gittleson, 86, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at Franklin Grove Living & Rehabilitation in Franklin Grove. Doris was born on Oct. 8, 1934 to William A. and Alta F. (Schrum) Purvis in Malta.

STEWARD — Doris M. Gittleson, 86, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at Franklin Grove Living & Rehabilitation in Franklin Grove. Doris was born on Oct. 8, 1934 to William A. and Alta F. (Schrum) Purvis in Malta.
On Oct. 16, 1954, she married Allen Gittleson in Steward. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2019, in addition her son, Robert; brother, William Purvis and two sisters, her twin, Deloris Schaneberg, and Juanita Williams.
Doris farmed alongside her husband, Allen, for over 50 years. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, friends and church. She made wonderful friendships with the staff and other residents at Franklin Grove Living & Rehabilitation Center.
Doris is survived by her three children, David (Joyce) Gittleson, Albert (Michele) Gittleson and Lois Gittleson all of Rochelle; daughter-in-law, Diane Gittleson of DeKalb; two sisters, Betty Walsh of Mountain View, Arkansas, and Venita (Jack) Campbell of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; three sisters-in-law, Elsie (Ron) Macklin of Rochelle, Mary Ellen (Lee) Hutson of McFarland, Wisconsin, and Annie (Bob) Hutcheson of Malta; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7 with Pastor Megan Thompson officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Unger-Horner Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow the service at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle.
Memorials may be made in Doris’s memory to United Methodist Church of Steward.
