CHANA – Frances Ann Karper, 88, of Chana passed away peacefully at the Franklin Grove Living and Rehab Center on April 21. She was born Oct. 31, 1932 on the family farm in Kings to Richard E. and Mabel (Onley) Hayes, the youngest of five siblings.

She married Wallace (Snood) Karper Oct. 6, 1950. He preceded her death April 16, 1991.

Frances loved to cook, bake, make jelly, sew, craft with plastic canvas and read books. Her most special gifts to all were her crochet dolls and doilies. The bride and groom crochet centerpieces for the gift tables at several weddings were most beautiful.

She is survived by their eight children: Karla (John) Kaltenbach Ashton, Yvonne Tannahill of Mt. Morris, Wally (Deb) Karper of Franklin Grove, Bill (Connie) Karper of Oregon, Diane Karper of Chana, Rick (Karen Yardley) Karper of Amboy, Eva (Dick Snodgrass) Karper of Chana and Darlene (Matt) Beran of Bullhead City, Arizona along with her 15 grandchildren: Julie, John, Alice, Melissa, Heather, Jason, Darci, Nicholas, Kristin, Amber, Chris, Sean, Vanessa, Steven, and Harley; her 24 great-grandchildren: MacKenzie, Tyler, Kyla, Kane, Hailey, Kylie, Savannah, Sydney, Mariah, Katlyn, Alyssa, Josiah, Levi, Rebekah, Braden, Chase, Bryce, Gavin, Darren, Luke, Grace, Alice, Logan, and Ellie; her four great-great grandchildren: Leah, Kyran, River and Lily; her beloved nieces and nephew: Candy Karper, Judy Connolly, Carol Ann Capes and Dennis Hayes and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Pitzer of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A private graveside service will be held May 22 at the Franklin Grove Cemetery with her grandson, Jason Karper, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ashton Rescue. Online condolences may be made at www.beveragelyonfamilyfh.com.
