ROCKFORD — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity basketball team dominated the first quarter of its nonconference game against Rockford Christian Life on Tuesday evening. Rochelle held the Eagles to just five first-quarter points as the Lady Hubs cruised for a 58-41 victory.
Senior Alivia Henkel led a balanced Rochelle offense that saw nine different players enter the scoring column on Tuesday. Henkel scored a team-high 14 points for the Lady Hubs (10-12, 1-4 Interstate 8), while senior Megan Seebach added nine points with eight coming in the second quarter. Junior Kendyl Darby sparked the offense with eight points all in the first quarter.
Rochelle led 24-5 after the first quarter and 42-16 at halftime. Senior Kara Martinez and sophomore Jaydin Dickey each recorded six points in the game for the Lady Hubs, who will host Sycamore on Wednesday evening. Juniors Abby Metzger and Emma Kennay each tallied four points, while senior Kennedy Adamski scored four points and senior Loretta Atkinson chipped in three points.
