Eighth-graders claim championship for second straight season

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Middle School seventh and eighth-grade girls basketball teams each finished first in the North Central Junior Conference this season.

The seventh-graders defeated Kaneland 24-16 on Thursday to compile a 6-1 record at the A level and a 5-1 record at the B level. The eighth-graders completed a perfect 7-0 season to earn the conference championship for the second consecutive season.

The seventh-grade team includes Kyler Dickson, Mia Rowe, Alessandra Bonilla, Cammyla Macias, Madigan Williams, Jaydin Dickey, Mariah Reyes, Carmela Bright, Abby Bozinovich, Emori Mickley, Aubrey Simms, Aliyah Bonilla and Keirra Clark. The seventh-graders are coached by Chad Stewart, Jonathan Gehm (not pictured) and Phoebe Hughes.

The eighth-grade team includes Riley Doyle, Kendyl Darby, MaKayla Lara, Jayden Johnson, Cassidy Vincent, Arline Villanueva, Madison Stedar, Flor Magana, Charlotte Simmons, Sienna Seebach, Giselle Garcia, Jocelyn Cervantes, Kayla Ankney and Makayla Ludwig. The eighth-graders are coached by Johnny Gonzales, Jonathan Gehm (not pictured) and Phoebe Hughes.
