Junior bowler leads Lady Hubs in Tuesday win against Kaneland

MORRIS — Junior Alyssa Schwanert rolled a career-best 611 series Thursday evening, leading the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity bowling team over the Morris Redskins 2,212-2,038 in the team’s final meet of the regular season. The Lady Hubs (3-8) will compete in the Interstate 8 Conference Championship this weekend.

Schwanert fired 220 in her opening game, propelling Rochelle over Morris 732-713. Senior Kiya Porter added 146 for the Lady Hubs, while Kaileah Sasser led the Redskins with 199. Schwanert followed with 215 in the second game, lifting the Lady Hubs over Morris 728-689 with junior Carly Summers chipping in 134.

Rochelle completed its sweep with a 752-636 victory in the final game. Schwanert shot 176 for the Lady Hubs, with Porter bowling 160 and Summers scoring 134. Porter finished with a 412 series in the match, while Sasser led Morris with a 517 series.

Kaneland

The Rochelle Lady Hub bowling team snapped its three-match losing streak on Tuesday, defeating Kaneland 1,957-1,876 and sweeping the season series against the Knights. Junior Alyssa Schwanert led Rochelle with a 481 series score, while senior Kiya Porter added 445.

The Lady Hubs won each of the first two games on Tuesday before dropping the third game. Rochelle claimed the first game 664-624 behind Porter’s 165, while Schwanert’s 179 led the Lady Hubs over Kaneland in the second game, which Rochelle brought home 605-538.

Schwanert (166) and freshman Faith Adams (162) rolled solid scores in the final game, but Kaneland rallied for a 714-688 victory behind 194 from Sia Workman and 188 from Ella Edwards. Junior Carly Summers finished with a 439 series and scores of 155, 147 and 137.
