LASALLE — Senior Sydney Thorne scored two goals to lead the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity soccer team during Wednesday’s Interstate 8 Conference match against LaSalle-Peru.
Juniors Makayla Lara and Betty Flores each notched assists for the Lady Hubs, who conceded an 8-2 loss to the Cavaliers to remain winless in conference action. Senior Danica Ward totaled 16 saves for the Lady Hubs (2-14, 0-9 Interstate 8), who will host Rockford Auburn on Friday. Rochelle will conclude the Interstate 8 schedule with a match against Kaneland on April 30.
The Lady Hubs recorded 12 shots and eight shots on goal during the loss to the Cavaliers. Rochelle scored its first goal of the match in the 60th minute, when Thorne cashed in an assist from Flores. Thorne then scored her second goal on an assist from Lara in the 78th minute.
