The Rochelle girls track and field team finished eighth out of 13 schools with 19 points in the Byron Indoor Preview this past weekend. Senior Katherine Bakken set a new RTHS indoor record in the 3200-meter run, clocking in with a time of 12:00.89 to place second in the race. Bakken also placed fifth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:46.23.

BYRON — The Rochelle girls track and field team finished eighth out of 13 schools with 19 points in the Byron Indoor Preview this past weekend. Senior Katherine Bakken set a new RTHS indoor record in the 3200-meter run, clocking in with a time of 12:00.89 to place second in the race. Bakken also placed fifth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:46.23.
Junior Gabrielle Harding led Rochelle in the field events, taking fourth in the shot put with a heave of 32-8 while sophomore Afi Gati took sixth with a mark of 31-5. Junior Maddie Ohlinger placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 30-9, and senior Abby Tilton finished eighth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 10.31 seconds.
Junior Macey Ryan placed fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.88, and Rochelle’s 800-meter relay team of Macey Ryan, Abby Tilton, freshman Liberty Hayes and freshman Teagan Meyers took sixth with a time of 1:59.59. Senior Grace Garcia finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:11.58.
Ryan placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.72, and Rochelle’s 1600-meter relay team of Tilton, senior Cam Turner, Hayes and Meyers finished eighth with a time of 4:50.72. The Lady Hubs will be off until the Sterling Quad on Saturday, March 16.
