ROCHELLE — A GoFundMe has been established for funeral and future family expenses for a Rochelle couple killed in a car accident early Tuesday evening on Interstate 88 in DeKalb County near Cortland and Hinckley and Gurler Road.

Bryan and Asheri Campbell passed away due to the seven-vehicle accident. The couple left behind two young sons, the GoFundMe said. As of Thursday afternoon, 205 donations had been made totaling $15,996 of the $30,000 goal. The fundraiser can be found at www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-of-bryan-and-asheri-campbell

“Bryan ‘Soupy’ Campbell was a hard worker,” the GoFundMe said.  “He was a loving father and husband, a loyal friend, and a big personality. He worked multiple jobs in order to provide for his family and fund their adventures. Soupy loved to take trips, bowl, play board games, and enjoy good food and drink. All the better if he could share it with his friends and family. He built memories and stories and could spend hours telling and retelling them. He was devoted to his boys. Countless are the pictures of them cuddled on the couch after a long day of work or out having fun on a day off.”

The GoFundMe was set up by Nick Haws with the blessing of the family to help them through the difficult time. The money raised will go to seeing to the Campbell’s final expenses and raising the children.

“Asheri (Davis) Campbell was a devoted wife and mother, she was the perfect complement to Bryan,” the GoFundMe said. “She was the peacemaker, the smoother of his rough edges. She was passionate about her family. She loved watching the boys grow and did what it took to see them thrive. She was fiercely protective of their well-being and kept a close eye on them. She loved the Chicago Cubs, travel, and music. She had a ready smile and a sweet disposition that made her all the easier to love.”

A Bryan & Asheri Campbell Memorial Fund has also been established at Holcomb Bank. For anyone wishing to contribute, please make checks payable in the name of the memorial. All donations will go to the direct benefit of the family. Holcomb Bank said its hearts go out to the Campbell family during the most difficult time. Any questions can be directed to Kari Andrist at the bank.
