Joe was born in 1928 at home in Algoma, Wisconsin, son of a cheesemaker. Joe started working for Kroger at the age of 15 as a bagboy. By the time he was 16, he met the love of his life, Maxine, who was attending high school. By 1947, they were married and started what would begin a nearly 74 year journey together.

Joe lived a life of constant motion, working, gardening, wood chopping, traveling or fishing. His greatest passions were having his family around; a day on the lake fishing and grilling a few bratwursts while enjoying a cool beer was a perfect day. Listening to music and enjoying afternoon snack time was always treasured time with his grandkids.

He was a volunteer with the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department for many years prior to moving to Arizona.

After spending time in Wisconsin, Illinois and Arizona, they made Arizona their home base in 1989. They resided in their Sun City home until recently when they moved to Wooddale Village of Sun City.

He will be deeply missed by friends, family and all who knew him.

His internment will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. Final services will be privately held by the family.
