ROCHELLE — The Hubs varsity tennis team faced Morris at home on Tuesday, with the Rochelle boys falling by a score of 4-1 to drop to 2-5 overall. Senior Noah Griffith defeated Morris player Peter Smyk (6-0, 6-1) at No. 1 singles for Rochelle’s first and only point.
Morris won the No. 2 singles match, with Eli Davy beating Rochelle senior Kevin Zheng 6-2, 6-3. The Redskins took the No. 1 doubles match in three-set fashion behind Nolan Robbins and Oscar Segura, who edged Rochelle juniors Juan Montemayor and Hector Garcia 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.
Morris won both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches on Tuesday, with Matt Grant and Brandon Weitzel winning over Rochelle junior Emilio Nava and sophomore Sean Flanagan 6-0, 6-4. Jack Galloway and Trevor Tanke topped Rochelle sophomore James Doering and junior Diego Lopez 6-1, 6-3.
