Jason James Coil, 44, formerly of Rochelle, passed away Friday, Aug. 20 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. Jason was born May 6, 1977 in Rochelle, the son of Rick and Pam (Houghtby) Coil.

ROCHELLE – Jason James Coil, 44, formerly of Rochelle, passed away Friday, Aug. 20 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. Jason was born May 6, 1977 in Rochelle, the son of Rick and Pam (Houghtby) Coil.

Jason enjoyed playing video games, singing karaoke and bowling. He was fond of animals, especially his dogs and cats. He loved spending time with family and would never miss a family picnic. Jason was a loving and devoted son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend who was loved, and will be missed, by all who knew him. 

Jason is survived by his father, Rick Coil of Rochelle; brothers: Kevin (Beth) Coil, and their daughter, Ali, of Sycamore, Dan Coil of Rochelle, and David Coil, of Rochelle; paternal grandparents, Charles and Gwen Coil of Rochelle; maternal grandmother, Judy Wyatt of Rochelle; uncles: Don Houghtby of Rockford and Jerry Houghtby of Springfield; aunts: Teresa Adams of Rochelle, Debbie (Mike) Smith of Michigan, Tina (Tim) Ramsey of Chana and Greg Coil of Dixon; and numerous cousins, friends and friends and family from southern Illinois.

Jason is preceded in death by his mother, Pam Coil, and maternal grandfather, Gerald Houghtby.

Memorial visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Graveside service will follow the visitation at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle. Cremation care has been provided.
