ROCHELLE — Jon Michael Renner, 58, of Rochelle, passed away Thursday, May 27 at his home in Rochelle.  Jon was born in Galesburg on Dec. 26, 1962, the son of Rex and Patricia (Graham) Renner.  

Renner worked at the Focus House as a counselor before his graduation from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in education, special education. He taught at Rochelle Middle School for one year prior to his accepting a field representative position with IMRF, where he worked for 25 years until his recent retirement.

Renner often talked about how much he enjoyed coaching girl’s softball. He loved to hunt and spent many days at his second home overlooking the Mississippi River in Bellevue, Iowa.  

Renner is survived by his parents, daughter, Taylor Renner of Rochelle; brother, Mark (Kristal) Renner of Columbus, Georgia and nieces Caroline Grace and Addison Mae Renner.

Public memorial visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, June 2 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle.

Private graveside services will be held at Lawnridge Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jon’s memory may be made to the Rochelle Wildlife Conservation Club.
