Junior Tackle: Rochelle takes two games from LaSalle-Peru

Eighth-graders move to 6-0 and fifth-graders earn third victory

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Junior Tackle teams took on the LaSalle-Peru Junior Cavaliers at Helms Park on Saturday. The eighth-graders earned another victory to remain undefeated, while the fifth-graders were winners as well. The sixth-graders played LaSalle-Peru to a tie and the sixth-graders fell in defeat.  Rochelle will face Streator on the road next Saturday.

8th Grade

Vinny Tornabene rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries to lead Rochelle in a 30-16 win over LaSalle-Peru.  Joey Chadwick rushed for 63 yards on 14 carries and Nolan Zick rushed for 37 yards and one touchdown on six carries. Riley Smith completed 4-of-8 passes for 41 yards including a touchdown throw to Nolan Zick, who had 30 receiving yards.

Kayl True nabbed an interception and Frankie Hernandez forced a fumble that Mason Lopez recovered to lead the Rochelle defense. Joey Chadwick recorded four tackles and both Mason Lopez and Maddox Provow had tackles for loss in the game.

7th Grade

Rochelle fell 24-6 against LaSalle-Peru to move to 1-5 on the season. The Junior Hubs scored their lone touchdown on a 20-yard pass from Maddex Jackson to Kamden Kessen. 

6th Grade

Rochelle and LaSalle-Peru finished in a 0-0 tie on Saturday. The Junior Hubs, who move to 3-2-1 on the season, saw Noah Hayden finish as the leading rusher on offense and Bentley Etes finish as the leading tackler on defense.

5th Grade

Rochelle emerged with a 12-6 win over LaSalle-Peru to move to 3-3 on the season. Michael Vaughn rushed for a 27-yard touchdown and Felix Belmonte added a 1-yard touchdown run to lead the Junior Hub offense in the win.
