ASHTON — A juvenile was arrested Tuesday evening following a burglary at the Casey’s General Store in Ashton, a Lee County Sheriff’s press release said.
On Dec. 14 at approximately 11:04 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a 911 call from a concerned citizen reporting a subject attempting to break into the Casey’s General Store located at 1102 N. First St. Deputies responded, secured the scene, interviewed witnesses and developed leads, the release said.
That same evening, deputies processed the crime scene, interviewed a suspect, obtained consent to search a location and subsequently recovered an estimated $850 in stolen property taken from the Casey’s General Store.
The suspect, a juvenile, was arrested and transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with burglary, a class two felony and criminal damage to property, a class four felony. The juvenile was processed and released to guardians, the release said.
The charges are merely an allegation, and all parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
