Kurt E. Harms age 78, of Stevens Point, passed away Saturday June 19, 2021 at Aspirus Hospital in Stevens Point after a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — Kurt E. Harms age 78, of Stevens Point, passed away Saturday June 19, 2021 at Aspirus Hospital in Stevens Point after a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Services for Kurt will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday June 26, 2021 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel; 3200 Stanley St. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday, at Shuda’s. In lieu of flowers memorials will be established in Kurt’s name for Plover/Whiting Youth Baseball and the Portage County Humane Society.

Kurt was born May 23, 1943 in Rochelle, the son of Earl and Jean (Slothower) Harms. He graduated from Rochelle High School in 1961. Kurt then attended Western Illinois University where he lettered for the football and baseball teams. He married Mary Castor on June 12, 1965 in Rochelle. Kurt began his career at Del Monte and the couple moved to Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; Mendota; Idaho; and Utah, until moving to Stevens Point in 1977. He retired from Del Monte in 1998 as plant supervisor. Kurt enjoyed fishing, woodworking, all sports, and was an avid Packer fan when they were not playing the Bears, and a Brewer fan when they were not playing the Cardinals.

Kurt is survived by his wife Mary, Stevens Point and their children: Mark (Catelin) Harms, Milwaukee; Eric Harms, Stevens Point; Kelli (Caitlin) Harms, Oshkosh; granddaughter Greta Harms.  
He is also survived by his brother Fritz (Shawn) Harms of Sugar Grove, niece Karyn Williams, Frisco, Texas; niece Danielle Harms, Chicago, nephew Kyle Harms, Indianapolis, Indiana; niece Debbie (Larry) Bryant, He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Connie Weber, infant sister Hollis; and nephew Douglas Fugate.
