ROCHELLE — The Lady Hubs varsity bowling team entered Wednesday night’s nonconference contest with the Streator Bulldogs on a four-match losing streak, but the Rochelle girls ended that slump with a decisive 2,613-2,101 victory. The win improved Rochelle’s overall record to 2-4 on the season.
The Lady Hubs took a large lead early in the match after winning the first game over Streator by a score of 918-679. Senior Carlie Elder’s 210 and senior Katie Dummer’s 187 anchored Rochelle in the opening game.
“The leadership they’re showing is good, especially since we have a younger team,” head coach Joey Johanning said. “Watching them continuously hold the other girls up and bring them along is definitely positive for the program.”
Rochelle defeated the Bulldogs 839-751 in the second game behind 193 from Dummer and 175 from senior Hope Palmer. The Lady Hubs sealed their sweep of Streator with an 856-671 victory in the third game. Elder rolled 218 for a three-game series of 594, and Dummer added 172 for a series of 552.
