ROCHELLE — The Lady Hubs varsity tennis team took the court for its first home match of the 2017 season on Wednesday, but the Sycamore Lady Spartans spoiled Rochelle’s fun with a dominating performance in conference action.
Sycamore took the varsity match 5-0, with Rochelle recording just two game victories on the evening. Senior Lady Hub Alex Nava fell 0-6, 0-6 in No. 1 singles to Sycamore’s Lizzie Egerman, while Lady Spartan Brooklyn Scott took down Rochelle senior Jasmin Galvan 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Lady Hub seniors Raquel Montelongo and Marissa Belmonte dropped their No. 1 doubles match 0-6, 0-6 to Sycamore duo Kate Majerus and Paige Prombo. Maggie McConnaughay and Maddie Weaver defeated Rochelle senior Lillian Fulgencio and sophomore Kate Monfils (6-0, 6-0) in No. 2 doubles, with Emily Grayburn and Laney Henson beating Lady Hub junior Lila Roush and senior Anahi Calderon 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Rochelle falls to 0-4 on the season with the loss.

The Lady Hubs junior varsity tennis team fell to Sycamore 5-0, with Mindy Pelayo falling in No. 1 singles (1-6, 0-6) and Paige Rowland going down at No. 2 singles (0-6, 0-6). Jasmine Rissman and Ashlynn Leininger battled at No. 1 doubles, taking three games but falling 2-6, 1-6.
Caitlin McMurray and RuthAnne Gardner recorded a team-high four game wins in a 1-6, 3-6 loss at No. 2 doubles, with Melanie Gonzalez and Elena Pelayo falling 0-6, 1-6 at No. 3 doubles.
