FORRESTON — After falling in a doubleheader to the Freeport Pretzels this past Saturday, the Lady Hubs varsity softball team traveled to Forreston and continued nonconference action against the Cardinals, falling by a final score of 15-4. The loss drops the varsity squad to 1-8 on the season.
Freeport
The Lady Hubs turned in a solid effort against Freeport in the opening game, keeping it close but losing by a score of 4-2. Junior Britney Salinas led the Rochelle offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk in the game.
Freeport jumped on Rochelle early in the second game, taking a 10-1 lead after three innings and holding off a late surge by the Lady Hubs to win by a final score of 12-7. Junior Faith Roush went 2-for-3 including a home run and a double, and junior Bibiana Milan went 2-for-3 with a double, a single and two RBIs.
Forreston
Rochelle totaled 11 hits in Monday’s nonconference game at Forreston, with senior Christina Payton going 1-for-3 with an RBI and senior Jovana DeLaTorre going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Roush and junior Teddi Hacaga combined for three hits, with Roush adding another RBI in the loss.
Sophomores
The Lady Hubs sophomore softball team fell to Forreston on Monday by a close score of 14-12. Becca Bunger and Macy Luxton each totaled a team-high three RBIs in the game, with Abby Reish going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
