Majeski Motors opens Rochelle location

Dealership prides itself on large inventory

ROCHELLE — Majeski Motors recently opened a location in Rochelle at 1010 S. 7th St.

The business also has car dealership locations in Sterling and Dixon. Its Rochelle lot became fully open earlier this month. Owner Greg Majeski said he’s been interested in a Rochelle location for a while.

“I think this area is growing and will continue to,” Majeski said. “I think there’s opportunity. Interstate 88 is there, there’s the airport and the new Love’s station. I think Rochelle will continue to grow out there. We opened in Sterling in 2005 and Dixon in 2015. It’s a natural progression moving out that way.”

Majeski Motors will soon be expanding the lot behind the building to allow for up to 175 cars to be on the property. Work on remodeling the building and updating its inside is ongoing.

Majeski said his business prides itself on its large pre owned inventory.

“We’re not going to be a smaller dealership,” Majeski said. “I buy 95 percent of the cars myself. I’m involved with every purchase. It just takes work, commitment and focus. Other dealers, you see empty lots. You won’t see that at our locations. I think it will provide a lot of value to people in Rochelle and the area that are looking for a quality used car.

Rochelle Sales Manager Robert Drake has been tasked with getting the location up and going and is excited to see the finished product once the lot is expanded.

“Once you see places like this coming alive and once we put in all new curb and gutter and lights and these buildings around here, everybody is coming together and making this a beautiful place on the south side now,” Drake said. “I've had people come in and thank us for doing something on the south side. That meant a lot."

Drake said Majeski Motors currently has about 360 cars and $12 million worth of inventory between its three dealerships. He said that’s rare in the current auto industry that is seeing car shortages due to supply chain issues caused by COVID-19.

“One thing we looked at when he purchased this is there isn't a lot of inventory here,” Drake said. “We researched DeKalb too, there's no inventory there. We have inventory. We thought it was a good place to get in and this town and community and surrounding area could use some inventory.”

Majeski Motors currently has one other salesperson in Rochelle besides Drake and has hired another on a part-time basis that will interpret and help with some of the community’s Spanish-speaking population, Drake said. It’s also using local businesses in town for some of its detailing and mechanic work.

“We've enjoyed making friends around here and it's a very friendly community,” Drake said. “I want to establish relationships here and keep the money inside the community that's going to take care of me.”

The dealership is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
