Man arrested for DUI following accident

On Jan. 3. at approximately 7 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 10000 block of North Illinois Route 2 for a one vehicle roll-over accident. After an investigation, it was determined that a 2018 Hyundai Elantra being driven by Bradley R. Benhoff, 62, of Rockford, was northbound when he drove off of the roadway. The Hyundai struck a tree nad rolled onto the passenger’s side. Benhoff was extricated from the vehicle by Byron Fire Personnel and transported to Swedish American Hospital for influence of alcohol and illegal transportation of alcohol. he was issued citations and given an I-Bond at the hospital. Benhoff is due to appear in Ogle County Court at a later date.
Jan. 4
On Jan. 4. Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop at Illinois Route 64 and Illinois Route 26. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Christine Starkweather, 55, of Hanover, for no valid driver’s license. Starkweather was then transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond.
On Jan. 4. Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Tony Coleman, 22, of Chicago, for driving while license suspended and for an outstanding Whiteside County failure to appear warrant. Coleman was arrested by deputies on Interstate 88 near Rochelle after being stopped for speeding. A passenger in the vehicle, Ronald Bryant, 22, also of Chicago, was arrested for an outstanding Whiteside County failure to appear warrant. Both Coleman and Bryant are being held at the Ogle County Correctional Center in lieu of bond.
