ROCHELLE — Margaret Louise Oleson passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. It was her 89th birthday and the 10th anniversary of her husband passing away. Margaret was born Nov. 4, 1931 in Poplar Grove, the daughter of Guy and Mollie (Palmer) Irving. On June 8, 1951, she married Orlo Oleson in Lee. They were married almost 60 years before he passed away in 2010.

Margaret was a long-time member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and T.O.P.S. club. She worked in the kitchen for the Rochelle School District 231 for many years.  Margaret was a friendly and generous woman who loved family, friends, and animals. She also loved Christmas and traveling.

Survivors include her son, Douglas, of Rochelle; daughter, Debra of Rockford; her cat, Smokey; brother-in-law, Ray Oleson; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Mary Clark.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Elmer (Joann) and Conrad Irving; two brothers-in-law, Irv (Doris) Oleson and Amos (Joyce) Oleson; and two nephews, Ron Oleson and Joe Irving.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1415 10th Ave., in Rochelle with Pastor Gregory Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines should be followed. Interment will follow in Lawnridge Cemetery.
