ROCHELLE — Mario Anthony Messer, 48, born Dec. 15, 1972 died unexpectedly at his Rochelle apartment on Saturday, June 12. Mario is the son of Gene and Judy Messer.
Mario graduated from Ashton High School in 1991, where he was an active wrestler and still holds the record for take downs. He was a hard worker and liked the outside farm drainage work, mowing lawns perfectly straight, putting model cars together and playing Farkle.
He married Dawn Oltmanns and they were the parents of two sons: Damon in Florida and Devin (Katelyn), grandson, Conrad in North Carolina. He’s also survived by his parents, Gene and Judy of Ashton; two sisters: Amy (Dan) Olson and Vicky O’Brien; three brothers: Tom (Anne), Alex (Kendal) and Gary Mason and half-sister, Lisa Montiel-Meyer as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and special friend, Ruth Rubio.
There will be a visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2021 at First General Baptist Church, 500 S. 12th St., in Rochelle.
The memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Corey Gilliam officiating. Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle.
