Ogle County All-Stars participate in scrimmage

ROCHELLE — On Friday, March 18, Rochelle Township High School hosted the athletes of the Ogle County All-Stars Team to participate in a basketball scrimmage.

There were 28 students who participated overall, rotating in and out of the scrimmage. Coach Tabitha Thomas made arrangements for the students to play against each other.

This season the Ogle County All-Stars did not have the opportunity to play against their usual opponents, including teams such as Hope Wall, Byron and the Village of Progress due to COVID-19.

The RTHS student fans were present along with the RTHS cheerleaders. Family, students from Chana Education Center and the SOAR House transition program were also in attendance.

A special thanks was sent to RTHS staff and students, RTHS Principal Dr. Chris Lewis, Mr. Terry Camplain and Kyle Kissack for serving as referees, Mrs. Molly Sly, scorekeeper, and Scott Swartz, announcer.

The overall score was 16-38, with the “guest” team in the lead. Students enjoyed a great game and celebrated with pizza from Alfano’s Pizzeria in Rochelle afterwards.
