On Jan. 5 at approximately 1:05 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Rock Road and Mud Creek Road. After investigation, deputies placed Ricky Logan, 20, of Martinsville, Indiana, under arrest for an active Lee County contempt of court traffic warrant. Logan was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: Jan. 5-8, 2024

OREGON — On Jan. 5 at approximately 1:05 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Rock Road and Mud Creek Road. After investigation, deputies placed Ricky Logan, 20, of Martinsville, Indiana, under arrest for an active Lee County contempt of court traffic warrant. Logan was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.  

On Jan. 5 at approximately 10:56 a.m. deputies checked on a vehicle that had just broken down near the intersection of Illinois Route 251 and Holcomb Road. After investigation deputies placed Shannon Long, 45, of Rockford, under arrest for driving while license suspended. Long was additionally issued citations for operating an uninsured vehicle and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration. Long was released on a notice to appear at the scene with a future court date.

On Jan. 5 at approximately 5:30 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on a gold Chevrolet Malibu for an equipment violation.  After a brief investigation, Cameron Olson, 26, of Mt. Morris, was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended. Olson was issued citations for driving while license suspended, no insurance and for having a inoperable taillight. Olson was provided a notice to appear with a future court appearance.

On Jan. 5 at approximately 11:26 p.m. deputies received a citizen complaint regarding a possible intoxicated driver in the area of Pecatonica Road and Egan Road. Deputies were initially unable to locate the driver. Several hours later, deputies located and arrested Cynthia Wiles, 66, of Leaf River, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Wiles was transported to the Ogle County Jail and released on a notice to appear.

On Jan. 7 at approximately 1:31 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Illinois Route 64 and Meridian Road. After investigation, deputies placed Joseph Al Hayawi, 20, of Rochelle under arrest for an active failure to appear Stephenson County traffic warrant.  Al Hayawi was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was held in lieu of bond.

On Jan. 7 at approximately 8:08 p.m. deputies responded to the 400 block of Davis Drive, Leaf River, for a reported physical domestic. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Curtis Palmer, 42, of Leaf River, for aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery. Palmer was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held with no bond pending an appearance before a judge.

On Jan. 8 at 9:37 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 8,000 block of North Illinois Route 251. As a result, Mercedes L. Crockett, 23, of Rockford was arrested on a no bond Rockford PD warrant for criminal damage. Crockett was transported to the Ogle County Jail and detained on the warrant.

Samuel Ortega, 54, of Aurora, was arrested for a driving while suspended warrant. Ortega has a bond of no bond and remained at the Ogle County Jail. Ortega was scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8 at 1 p.m.

On Jan. 8 at 9:37 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 8,000 block of North Illinois Route 251. As a result, Mercedes L. Crockett, 23, of Rockford was arrested on a no bond Rockford PD warrant for criminal damage. Crockett was transported to the Ogle County Jail and detained on the warrant.

On Jan. 8 at approximately 4:45 p.m. deputies, along with Rochelle and Lynn-Scott-Rock EMS crews, responded to the 18,000 block of East Illinois Route 64 in response to a single-vehicle accident with injuries. After an initial investigation, deputies learned a westbound Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Kyle A. Davenport, 20, of Leland, exited the north shoulder of the roadway before striking an embankment. Davenport was transported to Rochelle Community Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
