Ryan Tartaglia took his oath of office and became the newest commissioner on the park district board Monday evening. Tartaglia will fill the seat vacated by former park board commissioner Mic Brooks, who stepped down from the board earlier this year.

Park Board: Tartaglia sworn in as commissioner

ROCHELLE — The Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District Board swore in its newest commissioner during its monthly meeting at Rochelle City Hall on Monday.

Ryan Tartaglia took his oath of office and became the newest commissioner on the park district board Monday evening. Tartaglia will fill the seat vacated by former park board commissioner Mic Brooks, who stepped down from the board earlier this year.

Park board commissioners approved two agenda items during Monday’s meeting including the upcoming fiscal year budget and revisions to the park district’s nepotism policy.

Executive Director Jackee Ohlinger said the park district will host its Grand Celebration event for the recreation center on Saturday, Aug 28 from 12-4 p.m. The kickoff ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. and several events will take place between 1-4 p.m. including raffles, obstacle courses and contests in free-throw shooting, fastest soccer goals, weightlifting and more. Catering for the event will be provided by local establishments Ralfie’s BBQ and Tacology.

Additional events scheduled include an attendance raffle and member’s tables for platinum and silver members. The park district will offer a one-day-only sale on gold member packages with no contract as well as free Fitness at 5, rental discounts and 50-percent discounts on joining fee, fitness classes and driving range tokens. Facility tours will also take place.
