FREEHOLD, N.J. – Patricia Louise Rice, 75, of Freehold, New Jersey, died on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge Township, New Jersey. Mrs. Rice was born in Hollywood, California.
She was raised in the Swiss Chalet on Route 17 in Ramsey, a restaurant started by her grandparents in Rochelle Park.
She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold; a member of the Junior Women’s Club of Freehold; a member of the Board of Directors of the Freehold Little League and instrumental in helping found the St. Rose of Lima School Intramural Sports Program. She was a member of the Freehold High School Football Booster Club and a poll worker in Freehold Borough.
She was a New York Yankees fan, and enjoyed the music of Johnny Mathias, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Elvis Presley.
She was predeceased by a son, James Milligan Rice, II; her parents, Charles and Agnes Coggins Pfuhl; a sister-in-law, Donna Statdfield; a sister, Phillipa Pfuhl; an uncle, Rudy Pfuhl; and an aunt, Louise Darby.
Surviving are her husband, James M. Rice; two sons, Mark Rice and fiancé Lisa Romeo and Patrick Rice and fiancé, Suani Carrion; two grandchildren, April Rice and James P. Rice; two brothers, Chuck Pfuhl, Riverside, California and Charles M. Pfuhl, Ramsey, New Jersey; a sister, Barbara Pfuhl; a sister-in-law, Judy Sassaman; a brother-in-law, Ed Rice and wife Ann; relatives in Switzerland; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held in Freehold, New Jersey under the direction of the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
