ROCHELLE — Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes in law enforcement?
The Rochelle Police Department is taking applications for the 2019 Rochelle Citizen Police Academy. The program runs for seven weeks on Thursday starting Feb. 7 through March 21 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Police chief Eric Higby said the department streamlined this year’s program to run in seven weeks versus 10 in previous years.
“It’s going to be a fast seven weeks. The participants will learn a lot about the police department and why we do what we do,” he said. “It is a huge time commitment but it’s worth it. We have had several applicants already, there is definitely an interest.”
