ROCHELLE – A suspect is in custody following a stabbing incident that reportedly took place Sunday night near the quarry in Rochelle, located just southeast of Flagg Road and IL Route 251.
According to the Rochelle Police Department, a 911 call was received at 9:59 p.m. by the Ogle County Sheriff’s office, indicating a man had been stabbed near the quarry. The call was transferred to the Rochelle Police Department, which responded to the 500 block of Fairview Drive.
Once officers arrived on scene, they found a man who sustained a puncture wound to the abdomen and a cut to his left forearm. The victim was tended to by medical staff and transported to St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford.
Following an investigation, James L. Wolkow, 47, of Rochelle, was arrested Monday, on a Class 3 felony of aggravated battery. He was transported to Ogle County Jail in lieu of bond.
Rochelle Police were assisted on scene by the Illinois State Police, the Rochelle Fire Department and the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department which brought out a drone with thermal capabilities to search the area surrounding the quarry.
