ROCHELLE – The Rochelle Police Department, in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will be hosting a hunter education class taught by certified instructors.

The purpose of the class is to promote responsible hunter conduct, discuss the importance of wildlife management laws and regulations and to encourage the safe handling of firearms and firearm ammunition. Through hunter education, students obtain a better understanding of their obligations to other hunters and to themselves.

There is no charge for the classes and parents are encouraged to attend with their children.

The class will consist of two sessions, which are Saturday, Sept. 25 and Sunday, Sept. 26. The scheduled times for the classes are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both days and attendance both days is mandatory.

The class will be held at the Rochelle Masonic Lodge, 500 Lincoln Hwy, in Rochelle. To register for a class, call the Rochelle Police Department at 815-562-2131. You can call anytime day or night, but call early as there is a 40-student maximum for each class.

Contact Det. John Kaltenbach with any questions at 815-703-1116.
