ROCHELLE — An estimated one million children are trapped in sexual exploitation across the globe. If every student in the United States gave one $20 bill, nearly one million children could be rescued from the sex trade.

The RescueOp1/20 movement is a student-led effort powered through Destiny Rescue to inspire the youth of America to actively combat the crisis of child sex trafficking.

Students have a powerful opportunity to put an end to this reality and change the course of history as a generation.

The mission of Destiny Rescue is to rescue children from sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Destiny Rescue agents fight to bring freedom to the children caught in sexual exploitation. In helping free children, they are often given the opportunity to rescue adults from labor and sex trafficking situations as well.  

Rescue teams are active across eight countries, have 7,000 rescues to their credit and have aided in more than 300 arrests.

Rochelle Township High School Alumnae Hannah Eldred is involved with Destiny Rescue.

“It is important for us to stand up and fight for something that involves our peers,” Eldred said. “Working with Destiny Rescue to me means that I can be part of a big change in the world and help others reach their full potential. These girls deserve just as much freedom as anyone else, and that is what this fight is about. Step up and change the world.”

Eldred reached out to the RTHS Interact Club. It is selling bracelets made by the girls who have been rescued. It is the Interact Club's 2021-22 International Project. 

Interact’s goal is to sell 300 bracelets. To date, 50 have been sold.
