OREGON — The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office announced it made two driving under the influence arrests and issued 95 total citations during the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement period. Deputies issued citations for numerous offenses including: two arrests for DUI, 10 arrests for driver’s license violations (no license/suspended, revoked licenses, 39 citations for speeding, eight citations for no insurance, 10 citations for registration violations, one citation for distracted driving (using a cell phone), one citation for illegal transportation of alcohol, seven citations for improper lane usage, five citations for equipment violations and nine citations for other moving violations

“We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason – to save lives,” Sheriff Brian VanVickle said. “Encouraging sober driving and seat-belt use improves safety for all.”

The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket enforcement effort ran from Friday, March 11, through the early morning hours of Friday, March 18, to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure more people buckle up and follow all traffic safety laws.

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners for the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement campaign.

The effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
