The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity softball team suffered a no-hit shutout at the hands of LaSalle-Peru on Wednesday evening, when the purple and white fell to the Cavaliers 10-0 in Interstate 8 Conference action.

LASALLE — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity softball team suffered a no-hit shutout at the hands of LaSalle-Peru on Wednesday evening, when the purple and white fell to the Cavaliers 10-0 in Interstate 8 Conference action. Freshman Emma Heller threw all four innings for the Lady Hubs (3-5, 0-2 Interstate 8), striking out four batters. Rochelle will host Forreston on Friday evening.
Ava Lambert’s RBI single sparked a three-run frame for LaSalle-Peru in the bottom of the first inning, where Allie Thome’s two-run double put the Cavaliers ahead 3-0. A two-run single from Callie Mertes and an RBI double from Lambert allowed LaSalle-Peru to surge ahead 6-0 in the bottom of the second inning. Kelsey Frederick reached on a Rochelle error and scored on another error by the Lady Hubs in the bottom of the third inning, giving the Cavaliers a 7-0 lead.
LaSalle-Peru sealed its win with three runs on two RBI singles in the bottom of the fourth inning. Freshman Dylan Etes reached base twice for the Lady Hubs, drawing walks in the first and third innings. Sophomore Madigan Williams and freshman Briel Metzger each reached base on hit-by-pitches, while senior Ella Alfano and freshman Phelisity Lopez each drew walks.
