ELKHART, Ind. — Sydney K. Groen, 73, of Elkhart, Indiana passed away Nov. 28, 2021. He was born Aug. 22, 1948 in Kings, the son of the late Fred A. Groen and Mabel (Bingham) Groen.

He attended Rochelle High School in Rochelle and moved to Mishawauka, Indiana in 1972. He worked as a press operator at several printing companies in the South Bend and Elkhart area.

He loved cars and racing, motorcycles, boating, golf and snowmobiling. He loved to repair small engines, which he did in the last few years of his life.

He was very proud of his Northern Irish heritage. He was an active member of the American Legion 308 in Osceola, Indiana.

Sydney was preceded in death by his brother, Freddie Richard Groen; father, Fred Arthur Groen; mother, Mabel Groen Morrison and daughter, Katie Groen.

Sydney is survived by his daughter, Carrie Hartley (Nick); son, Ken Groen (Amanda); son, Freddie Groen (Gloria); son, Kevin Groen (Julie); sisters, Colleen Miller, Rogene Crowel and Barbara Armstrong, all of Florida and grandchildren: Cadence, Alyssa, Fury, Parker, Katie and Xavier.
