Waddy, Kentucky — Sylvia “Lorene” Babb, 90, formerly of Rochelle, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021.
Lorene was born on Nov. 22, 1930 to Veston and Mary (Williams) Pankey in Bradford, Arkansas. On Feb. 15, 1947, she married Floyd Robert Babb in Watervliet, Michigan. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2005.
Lorene worked for many years at Caron Spinning in Rochelle. For over 50 years, she attended FGB church of Rochelle. After moving to Kentucky, she attended Salem Baptist Church in Shelbyville.
Lorene is survived by her three children, Florence (Jim) Robertson of Surprise, Arizona, Vetta Barton of New Albany, Indiana, and Stanley (Sherry) Babb of Waddy, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Deb) Robertson, Kristen (Keith) Griffith, Chadd (Heather) Barton, Derek (Sarah) Barton, Timothy (Amy) Babb, Amy Tofa and Tonya (Geraldo) Bonilla; 18 great-grandchildren, Josh Ayres, Shon Robertson, Haley, Landon and Noah Griffith, Whitney Frank, Tristyn, Ella and Bryce Barton, Alexander, Sarah, and Hannah Babb, Quinlen Tofa, Colton Babb, Kelsey Bays and Brayden, Reiley, and Alessandra Bonilla. Also, one great-great grandson, Drew Ayers.
She loved her family, and her family loved her greatly. She will surely be missed by all.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased in death by two brothers, Edward and Jack Pankey, and two sisters, Nadean Whitener and Irene Babb. She was also predeceased by son-in-law, Tim Barton, and granddaughter, LeAnne Babb.
The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 North Sixth Street, Rochelle. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Don Dingus officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Unger-Horner Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle.
