Thankful for crossing signal work

Posted

Dear Editor,
On behalf of many people on the north side of Illinois Route 38, a big thank you to the City of Rochelle and especially Sam Tesreau, for their work on installing new crossing signals at Brookside and Springdale off Illinois Route 38.

I personally know that Sam has been working on this project for a couple of years. Crossing five lanes of traffic on foot, especially around rush hour, has been difficult for adults and especially for children on their way to school both in the morning and afternoon. These crosswalk indicators are “on demand” and not blinking 24 hours a day. Hopefully, they will grab the attention of drivers to be courteous to the pedestrians trying cross.
Thank you again to the City of Rochelle for reminding the residents that the city does work for them.
