ROCHELLE — Kevin Todd Smith, 62, of Rochelle, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Todd was born April 29, 1958 in Rochelle, the son of Howard and Ellen (Parkins) Smith. He married Teresa Hopkins on August 3, 2016 at Summit Lake in Colorado.
Todd is survived by his wife, Teresa, of Rochelle; children: Cole (Meghan) Smith of Dubuque, Iowa, Kyle (Nicole) Hansen of Woodhaven, MI, Mary (Michael) Peloza of Burlington, Wisconsin, and Emily (Josh) Carow of Kouts, Indiana; three grandchildren: Matthew Hansen, Thorin Peloza, and Gideon Peloza; three brothers: Tom (Dawn) Smith of Rochelle, John (Laurie) Smith of Rochelle, and Steve Smith of Beaumont, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Todd is preceded in death by three brothers: Howard Jr. (Dutch), Stacey, and Brad Smith.
After years of being an ironworker, Todd pursued his passion in photography. This can be seen in the countless photos he took and shared of many Rochelle community activities, sporting events, weddings, and other celebrations. He had finished his bachelor’s degree in Ministerial Studies and was pursuing his master’s degree in the same field. Todd is a disciple of the Lord and he wanted to spread the good news with anyone he came into contact with.
Todd thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted member of City First Church in Rockford, as well as a member of their production team. Todd and his wife, Teresa, enjoyed taking Jeep trips into the mountains of Colorado and also relished the time that they spent at home with their three dogs.
