OREGON — The Rochelle Lady Hub sophomore and freshman volleyball teams were both in action at the Oregon Invitational on Saturday. Each team won two matches and earned the consolation championships in their respective brackets.
The sophomore team went 2-1 over three matches, opening the tournament with an 18-25, 25-10, 13-15 loss against Hall Township despite 10 kills from Emma Metzger. The sophomores bounced back with a 25-13, 25-22 win over Rockford Christian before defeating North Boone 23-25, 25-16, 15-13 in a three-set battle.
The freshman team went 2-1 over three matches as well, beginning the tournament with a 25-27, 8-25 loss to Genoa-Kingston. The freshmen rallied for a 25-14, 25-19 win against Hinckley-Big Rock before beating Hall Township 25-13, 25-19.
The sophomore team includes Jasmine Walsh, Jillian Bruns, Maggie Louis, Emma Metzger, Cali Zies, Emma Heller, Brenna Sloat, Amy Lopez, Grace Montes, Reese Kissack, Madelyn Peska and Ella Thompson. The team is coached by Lindsay Suess.
The freshman team includes Arabella Nambo, Mackenzie Bybee, Abbi Andrews, Beaux Kacvinsky, Evelyn Garcia, Gwendolyn O’Dell, Vanessa Ortiz, Preslee Sanders, Marley Cherry, Gianna Olguin, Liby Belmonte, Madison Ludwig, Cheyenne Somers, Morgan DeLille and Kenna Beck. The team is coached by Charity Prose.
