SYCAMORE — Willard F. Davey, 91, formerly of Creston, passed away peacefully Friday, January 22, 2021 at the DeKalb County Nursing Home in DeKalb.
Willard was born on March 8, 1929 on the farm near Creston to William C. and Nellie S. (Newcomer) Davey. On June 25, 1950, he married Dorothy Mae Drewe in Creston. Willard spent his entire life farming in the area and worked for the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation for 30 years. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. Willard was Past Master of the Creston Masonic Lodge, Past Exalted Ruler of the Dekalb Elks Club, Past President of the Dekalb County Shrine Club and a member of the Ogle County Board.
Willard is survived by three children, William (Julenne) Davey of Sycamore, Jeffrey (Janice) Davey of Sterling, and Marjorie (Bruce) Brett of Franklinton, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Audra (Danny) Wilson, Drewe (Kevie) Davey, Joshua (Morgan) Davey, Carol (Chris) Jacob, Emily (Scott) Morgan and Jaclyn Davey; eight great-grandchildren, Julia and Henry Davey, Zoe, Reagan, Abigail and Samantha Jacobs, Quinn Morgan, Charlotte Wilson and one on the way. He was also survived by his brother, Norman (Sharon) Davey.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy; brother, Clyde Davey; and sisters, Vergene (Harold) Berg and Florence (“Buck”) Baker.
Willard was buried Monday, Jan. 25 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston. Memorials may be made in his memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
