WEST BROOKLYN — William “Gene” Bialas,77, loving father and Papa, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the UW Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1943 in Mendota, the son of Willie and Louise (Kretschmer) Bialas. He graduated from Rochelle Township High School with the class of 1961. Gene married his high school sweetheart and classmate, Joyce E. McGee, on June 16, 1962 in Rochelle. He farmed all his life including and after working at Swift meats for 13 years. Gene was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Gene Bialas on Oct. 9, 2018; and his brother, Herb Bialas.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Bialas of West Brooklyn; two daughters, Cathy (Ron) Fraze of Columbus, Montana, and Angie (Mike) Williams of Rochelle; daughter-in-law, Peggy Bialas of Rochelle; brother, Lloyd (Linda) Bialas; sister, Darlene (Bob) Johnson of both of Steward; 11 grandchildren, Allie, Olivia, Nicki, Luke, Dom, Megan, Cain, Rebecca (David) Eychaner, Josiah, Cheryl and David; two great-grandchildren, Madden and Maycie Cesarone; and many nieces and nephews.
Family funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1 at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Joy Alsop and Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. The funeral service will be live-streamed on Unger-Horner Facebook page. Burial will follow at Trinity Memory Gardens.
A memorial has been established to the family.
