Woodrow ‘Woody’ Cupp Sr.

STEWARD — Woodrow “Woody” Cupp Sr., 77, of Steward, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was born June 20, 1947 in Cubage, KY, the son of Jake and Cora (Wilder) Cupp. 

Woody was a plumber for J.B. Plumbing for over 20 years. He was a longtime member of the Rochelle Moose Lodge, serving as governor three different times as well as running the Lightning game. Woody was always keeping busy. When not working, he could often be found doing odd jobs for friends and family. He loved to garden and always kept a big garden. 

Woody is survived by a son, Woody Cupp Jr. of Steward; daughter, Misty (Scott) Luxton of Sierra, Vista, AZ; six grandchildren, Seth (Becky) Cupp, Saydee Cupp, Jonathan (Makaela Chamness) Cupp, Destinee Law, Jessica Luxton, and Keyara Luxton; six great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Damian, Zane, Jayde, Justin, Everleigh, and one on the way; the mother of his children, Vicki Barnes of AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Woody is preceded in death by six siblings, Roy, Joann, Cill, Loretta, Effie, and Elbert. 

Visitation will be from 2:00 -5:00 P.M., Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th Street in Rochelle. Cremation care will be provided after the visitation.
